AKA Pitanga-tuba, this Brazilian native is a super cool little fruit tree! Fragrant 2-3" fruit is 8-lobed, bright yellow, and tartly juicy, similar to an apricot in flavor, we hear. You'll never see them in a store because of their short shelf life - growing your own is your only chance to taste! Tree can flower and fruit in as little as a year of being established (around 18" high), and is almost ever-bearing when kept warm! Though it needs to be protected from hard freezes, it is suitable for container and stays quite small. A fruiting houseplant! We recommend two for the best pollination, but they are self pollinating to a degree.
