Collection: Onions
Onions are often divided into long-day and short-day categories. Short-day are excellent for Texas, since our summer and winter days are similar lengths. Long-day onions will grow much larger bulbs up north where the summer day length can get very long, but they will grow fine in Texas and will just produce a smaller root bulb. Bunching onions are typically grown for the full stalk and leaf (scape) and not expected to form a large bulb.
For bulbing onions, after half the onion tops fall, push over the remainder and harvest within a week.
