ANNATTO --Bixa orellana--
AKA "Achiote", a condiment and pigment from the bright red fuzzy seed coatings. Traditional use in Central and S. American cuisine, and a food coloring. Native peoples used it as a body paint and lipstick, and medicinally. 6-12' shrubby tree blooms pink. Full sun to part shade, protect from frost. Container friendly.
