Penstemon grandiflorus --Large-Flowered Beardtongue--
Dramatic spikes covered with lavender flowers up to 2" each during the bloom season (May through July). Likes sun, well-drained soil, and is drought tolerant once established. Attracts pollinators, hummers, and hosts checkerspot butterfly larvae. Root was historically used to treat toothache.
