A small, highly fragrant tree or shrub to 8 m tall with dark grey to violet bark, contrasting nicely with its ferny, bipinnate, light green foliage. The tiny flowers are followed by small fruits which turn red when ripe. Bursera bipinnata is widespread in deciduous forests and woodlands across Mexico and to Honduras between 500 and 1900 m. It will make a great ornamental plant for warm temperate and drier tropical climates but is rarely seen and offered.Cultural RequirementsSun Exposure Full sun from early ageLight shade when youngFrost Tolerance ModerateWater Requirements ModerateDrought Tolerance YesWind Tolerance ModerateAppearanceGrowth Rate ModerateGrowth Form Small TreeShrubOrnamental Value BeautifulUsesProperties DeciduousScentGardening LandscapingOrnamentalPottedFood/Medicinal MedicinalProducts/Economic ResinWood Light WoodPale Wood
