Our all time MOST requested plant!! This South American plant known as chaqruy in the Quechua languages of the Andes region, loves high humidity and bright filtered sun, suitable as an understory or container plant. It is valued by plant collectors for its ceremonial use in traditional South Americas 'black drink' and known historically as a revered plant teacher among the indigenous peoples of the Amazon rainforest. They are often confused for other psychotria varieties. Viridis is most readily identified by the leaf growing completely connected to the stem. We grow these for the purposes of keeping traditional medicinal plants accessible - they propagate and grow slowly and with great difficulty! These precious babies are about 1 year old, propagated by leaf cuttings from a mother plant we've had for many years.
