The leaf is said to have a faint sea-food scent (earning it the sobriquet "Fish-mint"), the root is fresh and peppery. The leaves and flowers can be made into medicinal tea. Prefers very wet soil or even standing water, if it has enough water it will spread quickly, so it's a great option for containers.
