CINNAMON 'Ceylon' --Cinnamomum verum--

True Cinnamon tree - cinnamon spice is made from the inner bark of this tree! Previous botanical: C. zeylanicum. Historical medicinal uses to settle digestion, and preliminary studies show it could slow the progress of alzheimer's disease through the reduction of the oligomerization of beta-amyloid. The trees grow as leafy bushes to a maximum of 10 ft in height if not pruned. They are first harvested at 3 years old and continue producing well for 40–50 years. Twigs, leaves and berries can be crushed to make cinnamon oil. Quills of harvested bark are dried over several days in the shade, then in darkness and can be used whole or powdered.
