Clematis terniflora --Sweet Autumn Clematis--

Fast growing climbing vine produces masses of fragrant, white flowers. Blooms summer through fall. Foliage is dark green with white stripes. Full to part sun. Attracts butterflies. It's a tough vine that can handle Central Texas winters, though it may die back to the ground during a hard freeze, it’s generally hardy enough to survive the mild winter temps, and even if it looks dead, don’t worry—it will regrow in the spring. To help it through cold snaps, you can cover it with frost cloth or burlap and mulch around the base to protect the roots from freezing. Since this clematis flowers on new growth, it’s best to prune it back in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh vines and blooms. During winter, it doesn’t need much water, but make sure it doesn’t dry out completely. With a little winter care, your Sweet Autumn Clematis will be ready to come back strong and bloom beautifully next fall!
