Pleopeltis lepidopteris 'Morro dos Conventos' --Brazilian Hairy Sword Fern--

This is a wonderful hardy fern for 8B rock gardens - "lithophytic" means it prefers to grow across a rocky surface or a very sandy soil, spreading by surface rhizomes. Likes full sun to part shade especially in the worst of the summer heat, and frost hardy down to 7°!. Fronds grow individually, up to 18" tall. New fronds will be silvery with fur, which gradually wears to reveal green on older leaves.
