Echeandia texensis --Texas Shooting Star Lily--

Rare and endangered! Sometimes called Texas Craiglily from the area nenar Loma del Potrero Cercado. Fall blooming (September and October) native with stalks of pretty yellow-orange flowers up to 5' tall above green clusters of grass-like foliage to 3'. Known to tolerate extreme conditions ranging from seasonally wet to seasonally dry soils in winter or summer, high heat and freezes, clay and sandy soil, full sun and part shade. Some reports have it beginning to bloom in late spring and continuing through summer. Will die back at the first hard freeze and regrow from root in spring.
