Large evergreen shrub or small tree, with a rounded crown, short trunk and woolly new twigs growing 10-30', evergreen, with attractive, sturdy leaves. Delicious and pretty sweet-tart fruits grow in profusion in early spring, after a winter bloom, December or January. Pollinators LOVE the flowers and it's a great option to keep them fed while most other things are dormant. Native harvested seed, from trees that survived the 2021 ultra-freeze. A hard February freeze may keep fruit from setting but once well established, the tree will survive just fine. Protect small saplings during hard freezes for the first 2 years.
