MANDRAKE --Mandragora officinarum--
Rare! Mediterranean native with traditional medicinal and magical uses. Root was made into amulets for good fortune, but root was believed scream as it was pulled from the ground, killing anyone who heard it. Sprouts in the fall and winter, and blooms purple, exquisitely scented flowers through spring. Dormant in summer. Note - plant is poisonous, do not ingest. Full sun to part shade.
