MARIGOLD 'Mexican Nematocidal' --Tagetes minuta--

HUGE Mexican native marigold, as tall as 10', with diminutive cream and yellow blossoms in profusion. The roots of this plant secrete thiophenes into the soil, compounds that repel pathogenic nematodes, and its foliage and blossoms attract myriads of beneficial insects - GREAT companion plant for the garden, especially for root vegetables! Use caution near legumes, however, as it can depress their growth. Historic medicinal uses for common cold, influenza, and the variety most used to extract the marigold essential oil for perfumes.
