Delicious variety stays sweet even after blooming - flower buds look like tiny green rosebuds! Widely used in cooking and herbal remedies, with many forms in cultivation. Combines well with pickled olives, capers, and lovage. Leaves are antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, cholagogue, diaphoretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, stimulant, stomachic, and mildly tonic, and are commonly taken for colds, influenza, fungal infections, indigestion, stomach upsets, and enteric parasites. This herb has a high content of phenolic acids and flavonoids, making it a potent antioxidant with demonstrated antimicrobial activity against pathogens such as Listeria monocytogenes.
