vasconcellea A slender, small, fast growing tree or shrub from rainforests in Central America and northern South America that forms a largely unbranched trunk to about 4 m tall, topped by a terminal crown of undivided or palmate leaves. The white flowers appear between the leaves or on the trunk and are followed by small, edible fruits. Even though apparently poorly known in cultivation, it could make a nice ornamental for the tropics. The fruits are much appreciated for candy, jams, cakes, sherbets and salted condiments.AppearanceGrowth Rate FastGrowth Form Small TreeShrubOrnamental Value Pretty
