Hoja Santa means 'sacred leaf' in Spanish - often used in Mexican cuisine for tamales, mole verde, and pozole, and even chocolate drinks. Leaves can be used fresh or dried. Really wonderful sassafras scent and vigorous, cool green foliage through most of the year. Tolerates heat and cold, shade, dry pots, and wet feet. Naturalized to the greenhouse floor and gets bigger every day!
