Maurandella antirrhiniflora --Purple Snapdragon Vine--

A delicate but attractive looking vine with gorgeous, dramatic purple flowers, multi-branched, growing over shrubs in several directions. The leaf and flower stalks are tendril-like and slender. Not a true snapdragon. The scrambling vines die back to the ground each winter. Likes well drained soils. Grows among shrubs in washes and on rocky slopes. Does well growing up small trellises or gates as well has from a hanging planter. It makes a good container plant. Ensure that moderate moisture and good drainage are provided. It will spread, but is not overly aggressive. Removing spent flowers and seed pods will prolong the flowering season, typically April through October. Can be grown as a flowering ground cover, each plant covering approximately 9 square feet (3'x3'). Great pollinator plant, especially attracts the common buckeye. Texas native.
