AKA Broom TeaTree. This is the legendary plant that bees use to make the most desired honey - manuka honey has nearly magical healing properties. This evergreen shrub is native to New Zealand and southeast Australia and is very common there. The fresh, pungent leaves of the Manuka plant make a fragrant and refreshing tea substitute. In fact, taste trials have shown that the tea made from this species receives higher marks than traditional China tea. The plant prefers well-drained, acid or neutral soil and can grow up to 5 meters in height. Produces loads of beautiful pink blooms from May to June and attracts a variety of pollinators.
