Polianthes tuberosa --Cream Tuberose--

Mexican native cousin to agave. Grasslike foliage with dramatic 3' flower spikes of intensely fragrant white flowers, famously included in a signature perfume of Marie Antoinette and an object of obsession by Oscar Wilde and Louis XIV. Often used in leis in Hawaii along with plumeria and other heavily scented blossoms. Winter hardy in our zone when planted in the ground 4 months before frost, also suitable for container, or rhizomes can be treated like bulbing flowers (dug up in late fall and overwintered in a cool dark place). Great as a cut flower.
