Ginger Family

Ginger is a broad family of plants (Zingerberaceae) that share a few characteristics, like gorgeous, aromatic flowers, edible and medicinal roots, and a preference for tropical growing conditions.  Some of the most well known herbs in this family are Galangal, Cardamom, True Ginger, & Turmeric. They should be planted somewhere protected from the coldest north winds and given plenty of water.
