Collection: Repels Mosquitos

We HATE these little jerks and we imagine you do too. You'll see a lot of plants tagged with the mosquito repelling tag, because we want you to be able to build the best garden or patio space to hang out in without constantly drowning in deet. There is a wide range of effectiveness among these plants.  For instance, almost all plants in the Allium (onions, chives, leeks, and garlic) and Lamiacea (salvias, mints, basils, and other aromatic herbs) families, have *some, but not a *ton of mosquito resistant properties because the bugs don't enjoy the strong scents that come from the oils in these plants. Conversely, citronella, a type of geranium, does NOT have any mosquito repellent properties, and "citronella oil", an extract from Cymbopogon citratus, one very specific species of lemongrass, is VERY effective when grown in quantity. Peruse this extremely useful category and enjoy a reduction in one of the greatest annoyances of summer!
