GINGER 'Mango' --Curcuma amada--

GINGER 'Mango' --Curcuma amada--

RARE! Ginger family Zingiberaceae and closely related to turmeric (Curcuma longa). The rhizomes are very similar to common ginger but lack its pungency, and instead have a raw mango flavour! Popular spice and vegetable due to its rich flavor, which is described as sweet with subtle earthy floral and pepper overtones. It is used as an addition to salads and stir fries, in South Asian and Southeast Asian as well as Far East Asian cuisines, and frequently for pickling and chutneys in India and Nepal. Traditional Ayurvedic medicinal uses for a variety of conditions, and modern studies show it may alleviate the effect of high‐fat diet/streptozotocin‐induced diabetes by activation of the GSK‐3β/Fyn/Nrf2 pathway, and that it has antioxidant, antibacterial, antifuntal, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic, and analgesic activity.
