The flesh is creamy, sugary & compared to orange sherbet by many. Named after civil war Union Brigadier General John Bidwell who went on to strike it rich in the California gold rush, then founded the town of Chico and began to farm melons, wheat, and raisins. Fruits can reach 15 lbs, are deep grooved & have yellow skin. Very aromatic. 95 days. Heirloom.
