Brillantaisia owariensis --Giant Blue African Sage--

Rare! This west African native member of the Acanthaceae family has very large tropical foliage and square stems, and can easily reach 4-6' high in central Texas, and may grow to an almost tree-like 15' in its native tropical habitat. Produces 16" spikes of blue to purple, lightly fragrant sage-like flowers throughout the warmer months of the year, with heaviest flowering in spring and late summer and fall. Root hardy during short freezes, moderately shade tolerant, likes regular watering especially in full sun. Attracts pollinators and hummingbirds, heat and humidity tolerant.
